Isle of Skye Renewables Co-operative was established in 2007 for the purpose of owning a share in the Ben Aketil wind farm located near Dunvegan.
Boyndie Co-op was established in 2005 for the purpose of owning a share in the Boyndie wind farm located at Boyndie Airfield in Banffshire. Boyndie Co-op is the first wind farm co-operative in Scotland and has given local people, as a matter of priority, and others, an opportunity to invest in the production of renewable energy.
Westmill Co-op was established in 2004 to build the first onshore wind farm in the south-east of England 100% Community Owned.
Baywind Energy Co-operative is proud to be the first UK co-operative to own wind turbines.
WindShare is a project developed by the Toronto Renewable Energy Co-operative (TREC). WindShare was started to provide an opportunity for citizens to generate Green Power in Ontario’s new deregulated electricity marketplace.
