Isle of Skye Renewables Co-operative was established in 2007 for the purpose of owning a share in the Ben Aketil wind farm located near Dunvegan.

Boyndie Co-op was established in 2005 for the purpose of owning a share in the Boyndie wind farm located at Boyndie Airfield in Banffshire. Boyndie Co-op is the first wind farm co-operative in Scotland and has given local people, as a matter of priority, and others, an opportunity to invest in the production of renewable energy.

Westmill Co-op was established in 2004 to build the first onshore wind farm in the south-east of England 100% Community Owned.

Baywind Energy Co-operative is proud to be the first UK co-operative to own wind turbines.

WindShare is a project developed by the Toronto Renewable Energy Co-operative (TREC). WindShare was started to provide an opportunity for citizens to generate Green Power in Ontario’s new deregulated electricity marketplace.

An award-winning wind farm is part of this community-owned utility.

Community Wind Power Network helps farmers and local activists set up community windfarms

Energy4All’s aims are to extend community ownership of electricity generation using renewable resources and provide an opportunity for people to invest their money in an ethical manner. This may be achieved through new grass route co-operatives or other financial and corporate structures depending on the nature of a particular project.
